What makes a place 'home' for you?
At least one dog or cat. We have three, two cats and one dog. There's just something about their companionship and unconditional love that rounds out the sense of peace and contentment in the home.
The cats saved our lives when we first moved into this current house: The furnace was broken, and giving off deadly levels of carbon monoxide. Thankfully it also gave off an odor (as carbon monoxide itself has no odor). They forced open the bedroom door and woke us up. We bundled up the cats, called 911, and got out fast!
So, please, if you don't already have a Carbon Monoxide alarm in your house, get one.
After that, then it's just got to be my favorite music. I can live w/o TV if I have to, but I have to have a way to listen to my CD's.I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

What makes my house a home? hmmm, I am really addicted to my bed, it's so comfy and I long to be in it after a hard day!

@jerseygirlsrule - Oh, yeah! In the summer when it is hot, I love to slip in the cool sheets with the air on. And in the winter, a big comfy fluffy comforter.
I'm hoping to get to the shore myself, soon. It's been too long!

What makes a place home for me? Wow, that can take me to a lot of different places in my mind. Of the things that can't be touched or seen, it would have to be love, pure and simple. Of the things that I have that make me know I am home, would have to be some of the things my grandmother gave to me-a beautiful old love seat, a sideboard filled with her china and silver, a round top table and furniture pillows of crosstitch that she made. And lastly, my daughter and my dogs. Without them, it is simply a house.
